In October 2023, Bluecastle Capital, on behalf of its investors, acquired a prime city-centre development site on Farm Road, Sheffield, with planning consent for a build-to-rent scheme.
Located within the Sheaf Valley Development Framework (SVDF) regeneration zone, the property is ideally positioned just a 10-minute walk from Orchard Square — a prominent retail and leisure destination in Sheffield — and a 7-minute walk from the city’s main railway stations.
Following further design development, Bluecastle Capital has submitted a new planning application for an enhanced residential-led build-to-rent scheme. The submitted proposals seek to deliver 409 build-to-rent homes, optimising the scale, design and contribution of this highly sustainable city-centre site.
Over the past decade, Sheffield’s city centre has been transformed by significant redevelopment, particularly through the “Heart of the City” masterplan, which is currently channelling £470 million into revitalising the area. The Sheffield Midland Station and Sheaf Valley are set to be the central areas in the continuing regeneration efforts. As the fourth largest city in England, Sheffield boasts a population of 556,000 and an annual GDP of £15 billion, ranking it fifth economically among English cities.
